AIS PC Meeting Minutes

October 13, 2017

Welcome (Alison Hastings)

Treasurer’s Report (Alison Hastings for Heather Niedland)

  • Golf Event was very successful. A great day and very lucrative - we look forward to next year’s event

Head of School Report (Wendy Hill)

  • October continues to be a busy month throughout the school
    • 8th grade trip to NYC was a success

  • Continue to receive feedback from external and internal sources about the difference a girls’ school makes for our students
  • Songwriter Justin Roberts visited 3/4 grade and was struck by the energy and enthusiasm expressed by the girls
  • As alumnae return to campus over breaks, they frequently comment on their experience in class vs that of their classmates who attended co-ed schools - Irwin’s graduates are able to ask questions and assert themselves in class in a way that their female classmates who attended co-ed schools are not - this is a real benefit of a single-sex education
