Upper School Division Coordinator (Sharon Shaver)
US Staff Announcements:
•Jenn Fiorini has taken a leave of absence. While she is away, Mariandl Hufford is taking on faculty and academic responsibilities, and Lisa Webster is working with students and parents around social, emotional and co-curricular responsibilities.

US Highlights:
•Parent Information Night was held on Thursday, September 27. The evening was well attended. Positive comments were noted on the furniture and new spaces of the US.
•The lockers have been a positive addition to the US giving the girls the opportunity to be more organized and to secure personal items.
•The new furniture continues to be a hit with the girls offering places to gather with friends or study. The SLC as a gathering place is a work in progress. There are plans to make the space more attractive and fun.
•Freshmen met their Senior Big Sisters last week. This week, they will have lunch together.
•The 2019 Global SSP brochure has been released. A student/parent information night was held on October 2. Detailed information is available on AIS-On. The application deadline is Monday, October 15.
•Online scheduling for parent-teacher conferences is now available through Pick a Time. Registration closes Monday, October 15 at 12:00 pm.
•HayFair class basket donations are currently being accepted. Please join in contributing to your class themed basket.

Important Dates:
10/5 - 9th grade Honor Code signing
10/6 - Class of 2022 parent cocktail party @ the Ernst home
10/10 - PSAT test day for juniors and sophomores. This is not a late start day. Freshman service day. Senior college application workday. This day also includes a surprise trip for the sopho-mores.
10/15 - Picture retake day
10/17 - Senior Mom’s Night Out
10/17 - Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Students are encouraged to wear pink on this free dress day. Funds collected will be directed to two charities selected by Jenn.
10/18-19 - Parent Teacher Conferences, No classes
10/19 - 9th grade movie and game night with Haverford
10/24 - Speak Up @ Haverford, 6:00 pm. Required event for 9th grade. More information to follow.
10/27 - Class of 2019 parent cocktail party @ home of Kim and Todd Scott
10/27 - Class of 2020 parent cocktail party @ home of Anne and David Shannon
10/29 - MS/US Can Drive
11/7 - Junior Parent College Night

Middle School Division Coordinator (Sharon Mankovich)
Class Parent Updates:
•All cocktail parties scheduled with the exception of 6th Grade (looking at 672 Conestoga)
•First round begin on October 12 (5th and 8th Grades)
•Some confusion around students being able to “shop around” re: sports; concern over not making team if they try out for a different one

Parliament
•Off to a good start; positive feedback received
•October theme: The Confidence Code
Google Classroom
•Working through a few glitches; many parents appreciated communication mid-month that clarified what parents receive vs. what students see
•Request: Keep sharing questions, concerns and kudos

Lower School Division Coordinator (Delia Biddison)
Updates from Donna:
•“Maker Mondays” led by Kim Walker, new program started this past week. Grades 1-4 Wonder Lab during their free play time where they can tinker, explore and make things. Some days they will be guided and others they will be on their own.
•“Mix it Up Days” during lunch for grade 1-4 will restart in November (once every other month). Led by the Upper School students in Unity group (formerly called the multi-cultural group). Girls are broken out in groups and eat their lunch in different class rooms. The up-per school student may read a picture book and then they discuss.
•“Teacher Lunch Days” will restart. Lunch dates did not happen last year. Girls in grades 1-4 will be given 2 lunch date coupons. Students can ask a teacher for a lunch date. Once the teacher accepts, the coupon goes to the homeroom teacher with the date. Lunch dates can be one on one or in small groups. Dates can occur with all in Lower School not just teach-ers - Nurse Lampe/Admissions team/receptionist Anne Diepietro
•$8,000 given by Parents Council to buy building blocks update: Since blocks were covered by grant. Donna used $3k on a mud kitchen which should arrive next week and will be out-side. TBD on the other $5k.

•LS Coffee on September 18th was well attended!! Prek did not have any parents but is a small class of 8.
•Parent Socials for all classes have hosts and dates set except PreK.
•Hay Fair: Two Hayfair Baskets for Lower School. PreK, K and 1st are creating a joint sign up genius. The 1st grade class parent is taking the lead. Kelly Perillo (2nd grade) and Gloria Pol-lack (3rd grade) parent offered to help with the the 2, 3, 4th class basket
•Parents Council Meeting: class parents will send email to their grades as a reminder.
•Monthly October newsletters was sent from Class Parents this week - includes events for the next 5 weeks.
