AIS PC Meeting Minutes

Welcome:  Alison Hastings

Treasurer’s Report:  Alison Hastings for Natalie McGrory

PC is in good financial condition.  To date, RaisE has over $68,000 in sponsorships.

Upper School Division Coordinator:  Roma Wickersham 

Senior graduation is June 8.  Juniors are required to attend the graduation ceremony.

The Cum Laude Society announced the newest members.  Membership is academic based with consideration of grades and rigor of schedule and offered to the top twenty percent of the senior class.

The college admission process and acceptances were considered successful.

Junior/Senior Prom is April 22 at the Please Touch Museum.  Pre-prom is at AIS.  Students will then be bused to the event with teachers and chaperones.

Special student only (no parents) events taking place in the spring are Sophomore Day, Junior Coating Day and Senior 100 Day Dinner.

Class Night is June 6.  All Upper School students are required to attend in their class shirt.

SSP is last two weeks of May.

Finals will be prior to SSP.

On Tuesday, April 18, AIS will welcome exchange students from Ecuador.

 5/3 -  Social Media Tips for MS Parents at 7:00 pm in the Alumni Lobby.  All parents are invited to attend.

Lower School Division Coordinator:  Beth Yocum

4/11 – 1st grade trip to Franklin Institute

4/13 – PC Meeting, voting on nominations slate for PC positions for 2017-2018 school year

4/14 – Spring weekend, no classes

4/17 – Spring weekend, no classes

4/18 – Classes resume

4/18 – Pre-K Visit to Milky Way Farm

4/19 – Pre-K Assembly and Parent Visitation Day

4/21 – RAISE – hurry, tickets are limited and running out!

4/24 – 2nd Grade trip to Philadelphia.  Concert dress – blue tunic and yellow shirt is the dress code.

4/24-4/28 – MAP Testing

4/26 – Dr. Dissinger talk, 7:00 pm: Feeling Left Out

4/27 – Lower School Robotics Competition, 3:30-7, Buck Gym

5/5 – Reunion weekend

5/9 – Lower school spring sing.  This year all lower school grades will sing together.  Concert dress is blue tunic, yellow shirt.

5/10 – Spring Market kickoff, 6:30 pm, 672 Conestoga

5/11 – PC Meeting?

5/11 – Spring Market, all day, open to community

5/15 – 4th Grade Regions Fair

5/18 – RenAISsance sale

5/19 – Mayfair – please note that parking this year is at the Willows, due to the Villanova Law School graduation taking place on the same day.  Please allow extra time for parking and shuttling to campus.  Handicap spots and dropoff passes are available on a limited basis for grandparents and parents that are not mobile enough to utilize the shuttle normally.  Shuttles will begin running at 9:30 am. 

5/25 – GrandfriendsDay, noon dismissal.  Information regarding After Session availability coming shortly.

5/29 – Memorial Day, no classes

5/30 – 4th Grade luncheon

6/2 – Moving Up Day


Update on Joanne Hoffman:  Wendy Hill

Joanne Hoffman continues to improve, but remains hospitalized.  Dr. Hill will be sending an email update to parents and US students which will also include distribution of duties in Mrs. Hoffman’s absence and the additional planned absence of Donna Page.  For those interested, Lindsey Bernhardt is collecting cards and letters for Mrs. Hoffman.

Tech Savvy:  Mary O’Neill

Register now for Tech Savvy on Saturday, April 29 from 8:30 am - 4:15 pm.  This STEM career conference is open to all girls in grades 6-9 throughout the Philadelphia region.  The day includes hands-on workshops and a separate parent curriculum to talk college, STEM careers and more.

Event Report:  Alison Hastings for Jamie Haines 

RaisE is Friday, April 21 at 672 Conestoga Road.  This new fundraiser is SOLD OUT.  If interested in attending, please contact Cathy Ferguson to be put on the waiting list.

Spring Market will be held at 672 Conestoga Road on May 10-11.  The May 10 kick off party will be open to AIS parents.   Look for the upcoming invitation. Shopping on May 11 will be open to the public.  More information to be announced soon.

Mayfair, May 19, will be held at the Lower School Field.  A Sign Up Genius will soon be available for volunteer opportunities.  New this year, due to a graduation conflict, no parking will be available at Villanova.  Shuttle bus parking will be at The Willows.  Please allow extra time for your arrival to AIS.  Allowances will be available for the handicapped and volunteers.  A drop off lane will also be an option.  Additional details to be announced soon via LS folders and AIS PC communication.   Preorder items will be AIS bracelets and Mayfair 75th Anniversary T-Shirts.

Nominations Committee members are:  Sara Glaser, Erin Hinckle, Beth Yocum, Heather Niedland, Leelee Kirkpatrick, Mimi Greenly, and Tien-Yueh Kubach.

Per PC By-laws, the Slate of 2017-2018 PCEC members, Event Chairs and Class Parents was submitted.  Please see attachments.  Voting will be held at the next PC meeting on May 11.

Volunteers needed for Dream Flags on Saturday, May 13 at the Constitution Center.  Please contact Mr. Harlan at Jharlan@agnesirwin.org

Event chairs and class parents are requested to attend transition meetings to be held in May.  Dates to be announced.
