MS Dates:
•The final MS food drive to benefit the Upper Darby Food Pantry is underway. It is particularly important to help stock the pantry for the summer as they don't get many contributions over the summer and the need continues. This drive is one element of the Stars and Stripes MS Field Day competition that culminates with the field activities on Friday 5/12.
•Friday 5/5 8th graders host St. Ignatius School
•Thursday 5/11 5th Grade Opera Wonder at 7pm
•Friday 5/12 6:30 pm MS Karaoke Night
•Saturday 5/13 Dream Flags Celebration at the Constitution Center 9:30-12. I know the 6th grade class parents are already actively involved but it would be wonderful to have other MS families participate as a family service project. Separate emails went out to 6th grade families and then to 5/7/8th grade families about this.
•Wed. 5/17 MS Science Open House 7- 8:15
•Wed. 5/24 5th grade Greek Day
•Fri. 5/26 7/8 exams begin
•Wed. 5/31 last day for MS
•Thurs. 6/1 8th grade "closing exercises" and trip to Hershey Park
Graduation Details:
Graduation Date: Thursday, June 1, 2017 (An Invitation for this event will be sent out)
Graduation Time - 10:30 - 12:00 (arrival for girls - 9:45 am)
Location - Laura Thomas Buck 49' Pavilion
Guests - Girls are permitted to have as many guests as they like.
Dress - Any color or style. They usually wear a short summer dress. Girls are asked to wear a sweater if their dress is strapless. They should be careful about shoe choice as they are sitting on risers on the stage and will need to walk up and down steps to receive their certificates.
Hershey Park - After the ceremony the girls will have a little time to take pictures and visit with family. We try to be on the buses between 12:30 and 1:00 to head to Hershey Park. We leave Hershey park at 8pm and return to AIS at around 10pm. The girls can wear/bring bathing suits for the water park. They typically wear their class t-shirt which will be given to them that morning in a bag along with their memory book and a copy of the graduation video. They should pack a bag with sunscreen, spending money, a snack for the bus, a change of clothes if going to the water park. They will be permitted to walk around the park in groups without an adult but will be required to visually check in with an adult on several occasions. A permission slip for this trip has been sent home.
