Parents’ Council Meeting Agenda

The purpose of the Agnes Irwin School’s Parents’ Council is to foster a positive spirit within the Agnes Irwin community and to provide financial support for educational facilities, opportunities, and enrichment. Parents’ Council communicates with the School’s administration to ensure that all activities and financial contributions support the School’s mission and creates the best possible environment for all Agnes Irwin Students to grow and thrive.

Divisional Updates
Lower School – Delia Biddison
- First trimester ends November 19.
- Report cards will be released before Holiday break
- Report cards will have changes. Elizabeth Elizardi will send out a note before cards released about purpose of change and explanation.
- Thanksgiving assembly, November 26th 9:30am. 2nd Grade Parents will be invited
- Elizabeth Elizardi sent her first video newsletter, about 10 minutes long, to parents this past Friday on the most recent leadership trait. Videos will be done monthly
- Upper School List of babysitters was posted on AIS-On
- Lost & Found is huge!

- ○November 5: 4th Grade Parent Transition Coffee
- ○November 4-8th: Spirit Week & Week of Giving
- ○November 6: Week of Giving Text/Phonathon, 6-8pm

- ○December 5: LS Robotics Competition, 3:30-7pm

Middle School – Sharon Mankovich
- Next week on November 12th, Cintra Horn will be hosting a fireside chat for Middle School Parents.She plans on discussing the Wednesday Building Blocks.Keep an eye out for a possible email regarding an RSVP to this event.
- MS Musical will be announced soon, possibly this week or next.Tryouts will be soon, and the musical will take place in the spring.
- Winter sports start next week.
- November 19th is the 8th grade trip to St. Ignatius.
- November 14th is the 8th grade visit to the Upper School
Upper School – Nissa O’Mara
- New phone caddies in all US classrooms - girls are asked to turn in phones at the start of class; not required but strongly encouraged.
- 10th grade trip to DC scheduled for December 5-6. In the past, this was a day trip. Entire class will visit Holocaust Museum as a group, as well as go to dinner and a show on Thursday evening. Otherwise, much of the trip will be spent in advisory groups, visiting museums and sites determined by the girls in each advisory.
- The first quarter is complete - Seniors received first quarter grades which will be sent to colleges; remainder of US received grades to date.
- Thank you to Kate McAllister for organizing the 10th grade service project on PSAT Day.The 10th graders made several casseroles at 672 and enjoyed the afternoon together.
- This week is Spirit Week in the Upper School - theme days include Under the Sea, Toy Story, Star Wars, The Lion King and Blue and Gold.
- Schedule for AIS/EA Day (Friday, 11/8):
- Free time in the morning including sign making, face painting, etc.
- 11:30 dismissal (busses run continuously between AIS and EA)
- US girls are responsible for making sure they are on busses back to AIS in time to make transportation home (i.e.: township busses or specific trains)

Events Update – Erin Hinckle
- Hayfair was a great success, thank you to all that came, bid, and donated
- Owlidays is next week, tickets and signup genius are currently on AIS-On, tickets in advance are $45, and at the door $50.20% off shopping all day at participating vendors in Eagle Village, and starting at 5:00pm wine and beer will be served in the Valley Forge Flowers Barn.Please bring a friend!Proceeds for the school are strictly from tickets sales.
- Staff Appreciation luncheons are coming up in February, keep an eye out for information on how to volunteer.
- RaisE will be at Terrain this year, on February 21, 2020.More of a cocktail party with heavy hors d’oeurves, and a live auction.Roving entertainment will be there too.Please reach out to Alison Hastings who is chairing the event with any ideas or suggestions for live auction items.
Sara Glaser – reminder that there is no December Parents’ Council meeting. The next chance for gathering will be at the January Coffees, the dates are listed below. This is a great chance to come and hear more about what is happening in your daughter’s grade. If there is a teacher you think should speak, or a topic that you want to hear about, please reach out to your class parent so that they can work on getting it onto the agenda for your coffee.
