The purpose of the Agnes Irwin School’s Parents’ Council is to foster a positive spirit within the Agnes Irwin community, and to provide financial support for education facilities, opportunities, and enrichment.  Parents’ Council communicates with the School’s administration to ensure that all activities and financial contributions support the School’s mission and creates the best possible environment for all Agnes Irwin Students to grow and thrive. 

 

 

President’s Welcome - Sara Glaser

  • Welcome
  • Thank you to Kate McAllister, Charlotte Pride, and Delia Biddison for running the Teacher/Staff Appreciation luncheons, they were both a great success.
  • Next Tuesday night Sally Keidel, the next head of school, will be coming for a parent meet & greet.Will be held in the West Wilke Theater.School will send out a reminder the parent body.She will take some questions from parents.
  • New Parent reception was last night, lots of nice new families.These are accepted families, some still deciding, some seemed to have decided to attend already.Lower School is doing well with applicants.
  • Nominations is open.Please nominate friends, or yourself.Nominations closes last day of February.
  • Class parents to send an email out to classes regarding meet & greet with Sally, nominations, and encouraging purchasing raffle tickets for rAISe.

    Middle School announcements - Sharon Mankovich

  • 7th grade parent social was last week
  • Notes from Cintra
    • Tech Girls workshop next Wednesday.Tech Girls is a national organization, a student from Shipley who is very involved with Tech Girls will be coming next Wednesday to run the workshop, they will help design a mobile app. This was announced yesterday, there is a permission form.
    • March – Middle school will send out a prolonged absence form.This helps students to plan around their absence, and for the school to anticipate their absense.
    • 2nd trimester ends on March 4th.Report cards will be sent out. Comments included for parents who did not make conferences.
    • MS Musical tickets will be for sale tomorrow, 2/14.Music Man is the play, it is a large cast.

     

    Upper School announcements – Sara Glaser on behalf of Nissa O’Mara

  • Grades and comments went out last week.Next grades will be out at the end of the month.
  • Black History month.Soul food café is being run on Wednesdays in the Student Life Center as a fundraiser.Assembly at the end of the month.
  • Hallway competition later this month
  • Course selection happens at the end of February.Parents will be contacted by advisors.
  • Preseason for fall 2020 sports starts on 8/24 for all fall sports participants.This includes field hockey, volleyball, cross county, tennis, and soccer.
  • 10th grade college parents school night is on 2/20
  • US Spring sports start 2/24
  • Winter sports recognition is on 3/3.This is during day this year, instead of during the evening as in previous years.
  • Global SSP pre-departure meeting is on 2/25
    • The China trip has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus
  • 2/25 is 100th night for seniors
  • On 2/27 is AthLEADS Seminar #3, 5:15-6:45pm, SLC
  • Acts of Kindness for Cradles to Crayons, currently collecting items.More information on weekly newsletter from the school.There will be a volunteer lead sorting day on 3/14 from 9-12.

     

    Events Update - Erin Hinckle

  • Luncheon recap- they went well.
  • Spring market (4/15 & 4/16), and Mayfair (5/22) are coming up
  • rAISe – Ticket sales are closed, but we are collecting a waitlist.
    • Raffle tickets – buy tickets and encourage your friends.Nieman Marcus shoes is a great deal.If you can’t make it but purchase raffle tickets, you can email Cathy Ferguson (cferguson@agnesirwin.org) for raffle choice.

       

      New Business

  • Vote
    • Voting for nomination for president for 2020-2021 school year is Nissa O’Mara.Bylaws state that we have to vote on Presidential nomination by the end of this month.Vote taken, and passed.
