Parents Council Meeting
Thursday, March 5, 2020
The purpose of the Agnes Irwin School’s Parents Council is to foster a positive spirit within the Agnes Irwin community and to provide financial support for educational facilities, opportunities, and enrichment. Parents’ Council communicates with the School’s administration to ensure that all activities and financial contributions support eh School’s mission and creates the best possible environment for all Agnes Irwin Students to grow and thrive.

Sally Keidel introductory evening went well. There is a recording of it if you are interested. . She is spending the morning at the lower school today. She will spend time at the other divisions as well, we don’t know the dates yet.

Corona Virus letter went out this past Monday. Kids are having assemblies to become informed on hygiene practices. School is prepared if things get more complicated. Purell stations throughout the school, they have upped the cleaning standard.

New Head of Security started yesterday. It is Ray Maddis, who recently retired from Radnor police force. Overseeing the entire security team. He had mentioned the installation of an alarm system for overnight, additional cameras. Parent raised concern over middle school entrance, Ray has been at the door since the discussion.

Grandparents Day and Spring Sing concert will now be on the same day – Thursday, May 7. Dismissal at noon, concert at 10:30am. Communication has gone out to parents.

MAP testing results will be shared at year end. Communication about class placement to come out soon.

March 6: Third grade Service club will be holding a Bake Sale on Friday March 6, 12-1 pm. Girls will be able to purchase items for $1, and proceeds go to Australian fires Animal Rescue

March 14: 9am to Noon Philadelphia Acts of Kindness. Volunteers will be supporting Cradles to Crayons by sorting and packaging clothing, books, and items for babies and children. Breakfast will be provided. Mus RSVP to register.

Third quarter ends 3/19. Mid-semester progress reports on 4/3. Big gap because of spring break. All mid-semester progress reports and comments will be on AIS-on, not on official transcript.

Course selection is starting, girls choose after break. Can see advisory recommendations on AIS-On.

Prom is at the Constitution Center this year.

Hallway competition this week. Today is the last day, pictures will be taken and posted on social media.

Student body president speeches are next week. Voting coming up in the next month.
Events Report, Erin Hinckle

RaisE was successful, even though it was at a different venue, and had a little bit of a different format this year. Raffle went well.

Spring market is coming up, on 4/15 & 16. There will be a lot of new vendors, more than half are new people that we have never had before. A big range of different items. 4/15 starts at noon, bring your daughter is encouraged after school, and at 6:30 turns to a cocktail event. 4/16 is 10-3. Open to public.

Mayfair is on 5/22. Preorders are scrunchies, hair bows and hair ribbons. The scrunchies will feature the AIS 150th anniversary pattern.

Still looking for Renaissance chairs. We have completely cleaned out renaissance, we got rid of a lot of stuff, it is like a whole new place to shop.
