The purpose of the Agnes Irwin Parents’ Council is to foster a positive spirit within the Agnes Irwin community, and to provide financial support for education facilities, opportunities, and enrichment. The Agnes Irwin Parents’ council communicates with the school’s administration to ensure that all activities and financial contributions support the school’s mission and create the best possible environment for all Agnes Irwin students to grow and thrive.

 

President’s Welcome (Nissa)

·       Thanks for the quick change to virtual due to the Conestoga road closure

·       Thanks to all who supported Spirit Fair and Spirit Gear over the past week – Still selling spirit gear today at lunch, at pep rally and under a tent at EA tomorrow. Huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help us out with sales

·       Recording of this meeting and Minutes will be available on AIS-On

·       Teacher Appreciation – Parents’ Council treated faculty and staff to Hopes cookies during conference days. We try to do something to let them know we appreciate them throughout the year.

o   Have a great idea for a thank you for the teachers, please let us know! We are always looking for new ideas

Division Coordinators’ Reports

·       Upper School (Maura)

o   Spirit Week. Girls have been having a great time. There have been some changes in times due to weather. Tennis is Thursday at 2:15. Girls will be bussed over to EA to watch the match.

o   Can drive going on thru the end of this week

o   Progress reports have been up since Monday, can access those thru AIS-On

o   11/15 - Junior college night for both parents and girls

o   11/18 – Flu clinic – register online and girls can get their shot at school

o   Joys weekly emails are really thorough so if you have any questions about dates you can reference them

o   Legally Blonde Musical Dates: 11/17 at 7:00 , 11/18 at 7:00 & 11/19 at 2:00 & 7:00. Link to purchase tickets is available thru Joys email

o   Thanksgiving Break 11/23 -11/28. Monday 11/28 is a teacher in service day. Classes resume Tuesday, 11/29

o   12/1 - Senior parent college workshop

o   ID Badges. We really need to support the girls in making sure they have their IDs with them. It is part of the uniform and girls should have them with them at all times

o   Visitors to campus need to enter thru the Lennox lobby (main loop) to sign in and get temporary badges. Don’t forget to sign out and return your badge.

 

·       Middle School (Alice)

o   Car Line/Change of pick up locations until Winter Sports begin (on Mon, 11/21).  7th & 8th grade will be picked up at the upper school entrance (main loop). Grade 5&6 will still be at the Dorrance entrance.

o   EA Day - Middle school can take a shuttle to campus  and take the shuttle back or be picked up by a parent or guardian at EA

o   Middles schoolers are encouraged to attend pasta dinner and pep rally tonight

o   Flu Clinic – 11/18. Sign your daughter up if she hasn’t had her shot yet.

o   All School winter concert is December 14th.  5th & 6th graders do participate, 7th &8th grade do not

o   Progress reports for Middle School will be out around Dec 9th

o   Question from a parent regarding social events between middle school classes and Haverford. Alice was encouraged to reach out to Corey Willingham to determine if any events are being planned.

 

·       Lower School (Jody)

o   Leadership assemblies are open to parents. Elizabeth will post those dates in her weekly email. If any parents want to attend you can feel free to do so

o   Excited to announce there will be a Book fair this winter!

o   Alice training went on in the lower school this week. Reach out to Dr. Dissinger with questions

o   EA Day - 4th grade hosts a pep rally for LS girls during the morning

o   If your daughter is leaving early on EA day you can pick up with a car line at 11

§  Afterwards no car line, you will need to come into lower school lobby to request to have your daughter sent down from her classroom

o   11/1-11/15 - candy drive and participating in the can drive

o   11/18 – Lower School Pajama dress down day per head of school for the day Clair Pozos

o   Winter holiday concert 12/14 at 8:45am

§   4th grade will join the all school concert that evening at 7:00

 

DEIB Report (Donna Lee)

o   The DEIB committee works with Parents’ Council to ensure that events are equitable and inclusive and to help foster community of the school

o   First in person meeting is December 6th. Joao Gomes, Director of DEIB for AIS will be speaking with the committee.

o   New members are welcome. Email gleester@gmail.com if interested in participating

o   SEED program.  Next session starts next week. Fantastic program, a lot of self reflection and group discussion. Email jgomes@agnesirwin.org to join

 

Events Report (Ann)

·       Spirit Fair & Bonfire /Spirit Gear Sales

o   Perfect weather for spirit fair and bonfire

o   Hope to make it more of a community event moving forward

o   Still selling gear thru EA Day

o   Lululemon short, white pom pom hats and white sweat pants are sold out

 

·       Owlidays  - 11/16

o   32 stores participating

o   Online ticket sales will be open thru Saturday midnight

o   Monday & Tuesday in person ticket sales available at Lenox lobby 8:30-4:00

o   Mon & Tues 8:30-4:00  you can pick up your Owlidays bag in Lenox lobby. Bag is your ticket to shop with discount at participating stores. List of participating stores will be in bag as well as discounts for online shops. Bag may also be picked up the day of the event at Valeey Forge Flowers.

o   Valley Forge Flowers – Cocktail party that evening

o   Open to community not just AIS community

 

New Business

·       No December Meeting – Next PC Meeting will be January Class Coffees (dates will be circulated by Class Parents before we go on winter break)
