Dear Agnes Irwin 8th Grade Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
This is a big year for our girls as they move to the white polo uniform and assume the role of “seniors” of the middle school.
It is traditionally when they take their New York City trip and prepare to “move up” to the Upper School.
The 150th anniversary of the Agnes Irwin School will add even more excitement to the year.
We are your class parents for the year and hope to keep you well-informed.
I am Nora Brady and my daughter, Elle, entered 7th grade last year. Meredith Antik is also your class parent.
Her daughter, Caroline came to AIS in 6th Grade. AIS has been a wonderful experience for our girls and we hope our new families find the same experience.
As the year goes on, you can look for news and updates from us at the start of each month
with exception of grade specific events that might require more communication.

Fall Sports: There will be a Middle School Fall Sports (6th-8th grade) meeting on Thursday, September 5th for interested students.
Fall sports practices will begin on Friday, September 6th. Girls should come to school prepared to play, with proper equipment and footwear.
For more information, please reference the letter from Cindy Bell (attached) or the “Back-to-School Announcements 2019” sent by the school.
Parent Class Party: We will be scheduling a parents’ cocktail party in the next couple of months.
If ANY of you would like to volunteer to open your home for the event we’d be grateful!! Please let us know.
Key Back-to-School Dates: In the “Key BTS Dates” document that is attached, you will find the meetings and events surrounding the start of school.
Here are a few additional pieces of information:
- Homeroom Assignments – Middle School Homerooms will be shared with students on the first day of school.
When the students arrive, they are given their homeroom location and they go there to start the day.
- Middle School Parent Coffee – Thursday, September 12 at 8:15 AM at our 672 Conestoga Road location.
It will be time well spent to get an overview of the school year and events from Cintra Horn and our Middle School Deans
- RenAISsance Sale Hours – The RenAISsance store will be open August 20-21 from 9:00 – 1:00, August 27-29 from 9:00- 12:00
and Sept 3 from 8:30 – 1:00 at 672 Conestoga Road. See the BTS calendar for additional store hours from September through November.
- Parent Council – As a reminder, all parents are members of Parent Council and welcome to attend meetings, volunteer and be a part of this organization.
The Parent Council calendar of events and meetings is also attached.
