The purpose of the Agnes Irwin Parents’ Council is to foster a positive spirit within the Agnes Irwin community, and to provide financial support for education facilities, opportunities, and enrichment. The Agnes Irwin Parents’ council communicates with the school’s administration to ensure that all activities and financial contributions support the school’s mission and create the best possible environment for all Agnes Irwin students to grow and thrive.

Presidents Welcome – Nissa O’Mara

• Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our recent events. 

• Nominations are in full swing for all parents council positions next year. Thank you to Mimi Greenly for chairing this committee. We are looking for class parents, event chairs and some PCEC roles. Please nominate yourself or someone else via the email; pcnominations@agnesirwin.org, and feel free to reach out to Nissa or Mimi with any questions.

• Reminder to support AIS every time you shop Amazon by designating Parents council on Amazon Smile 

• As you start to spring clean your daughters’ closets, please collect gently used uniforms for our RenAISsance shop! Donations can be left in the bin outside the shop M-F between 8:30 am and 3 pm.  We accept tunics, kilts, sweatshirts or polos from all divisions, we are especially in need of upper school kilts. We are not taking leggings as this time.

Middle School- Mimi Greenly

• Middle School Sports are coming to an end and spring tryouts will begin on March 7th

• Field Trips and some of the activities planned for the spring include:

  • 5th grade trip to the Outdoor School

  • Big/Little sister activities

  • Greek Day

  • MS Theme Day

  • Medieval Celebration

  • Grace Notes Spring Concert

• WinAtSocial continues in Middle School

  • Parliamentors recently taught the Strike a Balance lesson. Please refer to the Parent Playbook for good questions to ask during a family huddle.

• MS Stem Night – Thursday February 10th from 7-8:30 pm

• Angst Documentary – Screening & Discussion: Wednesday February 16th 6:30-8:00 pm

  • MS and US Parents are invited to a screening of the documentary “Angst, Raising Awareness around Anxiety” which will be followed by a discussion and panel. 

  • Students in grades 7th – 12th will watch and the discuss the documentary at school

• Door decoration contest is in full swing – the winning class wins a pizza party

• 2/14 – Valentines Day – Free Dress Day -  refer to Elizabeth’s Friday email regarding valentines

• 2/17 Service learning club will be running a bake sale. Be on the lookout for details on how you can help by baking

• Staff and teachers expressed much gratitude for the luncheon held last week

Events – Beth Yocum

• 1/22 – Family Skate Night – Great turnout, there were girls from every division. 

• Teacher and Staff appreciation lunches 2/2 & 2/9. Thank you to the Rhoads family at the Malvern Buttery for providing lunch. 

• 2/8 – AIS movie night at Mama Mia at BFI – Thanks to Alice Bullitt for organizing this event, it was great night for all

• Raise – 4/22 – 672 Conestoga

  • Thanks to Megan Boss, Sheridan Doherty and Ann Thorkelson for chairing this event

  • This years theme is “Roaring 20s Casino Night” 

  • First committee meeting was held 2/2

  • This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and will be a fun night! 

• Mayfair – 5/20

  • Thanks to Anne Ford & Aarti Bijlani for chairing this event

Next Parents’ Council Meeting is March 10 – planning on in person at 672 but stay tuned!
